Micro1 AI interview not working
If the Micro1 AI interview will not start, freezes mid-answer or fails to record, the cause is almost always one of three things: an unstable internet connection, a browser extension blocking camera access, or camera and microphone permissions that were never granted.
The setup that works most reliably is the latest Google Chrome in an incognito window, on a laptop or desktop with a single monitor and a wired connection.
Before you start
| Do this | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Restart your router | Clears the connection faults that cause drops halfway through an answer. |
| Use Ethernet if you can | Wi-Fi dropouts are the single most common cause of a failed recording. |
| If on Wi-Fi, sit close to the router | Weak signal degrades the video stream before it visibly fails. |
| Avoid public or office networks | Many block the ports used for live video and screen sharing. |
| Latest Google Chrome, on a laptop or desktop | Chrome is the supported browser. Phones and tablets are not. |
| Use one monitor only | Multi-monitor setups break screen sharing and can flag your proctoring score. |
| Open an incognito window | Starts with extensions off and a clean session — this alone fixes most failures. |
During the interview
- Close every other tab and application. This frees memory and bandwidth, and open tabs also count against your proctoring score.
- Pause downloads, streaming, gaming and video calls on your network — including on other people's devices.
- Disable browser extensions. Ad blockers and privacy extensions are a frequent cause of camera failure. Incognito handles this for you.
- Grant camera, microphone and screen-share permission the moment Chrome asks.
If you accidentally blocked the camera or microphone
This is the one that traps people. Once you click Block, Chrome will not ask again — the interview simply fails with no obvious reason. To fix it:
- Click the icon at the left of the address bar (a camera, a slider or a padlock).
- Open Site settings.
- Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Reload the page and start again.
Browser support
| Browser | Use it? |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome (latest) | Recommended. Use this first. |
| Mozilla Firefox (latest) | Fallback if Chrome will not work. |
| Safari, Edge, Brave, Opera | Not recommended — known issues with recording and screen share. |
| Any mobile browser | Not supported. Use a laptop or desktop. |
If it still will not work
- Try a different time of day. Platform load varies, and off-peak attempts often succeed where peak ones fail.
- Try again in an incognito window if you have not already.
- Record your screen while it fails. Without this, support has nothing to diagnose from.
- Send the recording to support — Micro1's own support if you applied directly, or to us if we referred you.
While you are at it: protect your proctoring score
Completing the interview is only half of it. Micro1 also records a proctoring score, and that score influences which projects you are considered for afterwards. A clean technical setup helps it; so does staying on one tab, keeping your eyes on the screen, and being alone and audible.

Common questions
Why does my Micro1 AI interview keep freezing?
Freezing is nearly always a connection problem or a browser extension interfering with the video stream. Restart your router, switch to a wired connection if possible, and retry in a Chrome incognito window with all other tabs closed.
Can I do the Micro1 AI interview on my phone?
No. The interview requires a laptop or desktop with the latest Chrome. Mobile browsers are not supported and will typically fail at the camera or screen-share step.
My camera is not working in the Micro1 interview. What do I do?
You most likely blocked the permission earlier, and Chrome will not ask a second time. Click the icon at the left of the address bar, open Site settings, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.
Can I restart the Micro1 AI interview if it fails?
Retry policies are set by Micro1 and vary. If a technical fault stopped you, record the failure on screen and send it to support rather than repeatedly retrying, since repeated incomplete attempts are harder to resolve afterwards.
Should I use incognito mode for the Micro1 AI interview?
Yes, it is a good default. An incognito window starts with extensions disabled and no cached session data, which removes the two most common causes of the interview failing to load or record.
